A report being released on August 17, 2011, compares U.S. proficiency in math and reading with that of other industrialized nations and considers the implications for long term economic growth.

The Harvard Study shows each state’s international standing in math and reading achievement. It has been prepared under the auspices of Harvard’s Program on Education Policy and Governance (PEPG) and Education Next at the Taubman Center for State and Local Government at the Harvard Kennedy School.

In concurrence with this release, this Webinar will feature one of the report's authors who will present a summary of the findings and take questions from the audience for discussion.

The report authors are:

  • *Paul E. Peterson – Henry Lee Shattuck Professor of Government, Harvard University
  • Ludger Woessmann – Professor of Economics, University of Munich
  • Eric A. Hanushek – Paul and Jean Hanna Senior Fellow, Hoover Institution and Stanford University
  • Carlos X. Lastra-Anadón – Research Fellow with the Harvard Program on Education Policy and Governance
