Are high school students today taking more overall risks with their health and safety? Is there more overall substance abuse, fighting, and sexual activity among teens? The Urban Institute's First Tuesdays forum in June, 2000 provided new answers to these questions, looked at multiple risk-taking among teens, and explored efforts to prevent teen risk-taking. The forum featured presentations by Institute Researcher Laura Lindberg; by Lori Kaplan, executive director of the Latin American Youth Center in Washington, D.C.; and by Sheppard Kellam, president of the Society for Prevention Research. The session was moderated by Richard Wolf of USA Today.
