Lee discussed the importance of good tribal governance, some of its characteristics, and the specific nexus between governance and economic development in Indian Country. He used research findings, examples, and lessons from the Harvard Project on American Indian Economic Development's Honoring Nations winners to highlight several broad principles and guidelines that should undergird the federal government's policies with respect to facilitating economic development in Indian Country.
