This section focuses on novel approaches to child development and school readiness in the preschool years. Advancing benchmarks in child development theory and assessment techniques are also covered. Other topics include learning theory, early reading and emergent literacy, Head Start training, nursery and kindergarten activities, expansion, and general childcare.
Alaska natives, more than any other demographic in the state, have historically been less likely to pass standardized tests and more likely to drop out of school. In 2014, only five percent of Alaska native graduating seniors met all four ACT College Readiness Benchmarks.
