Description:

For many government officials, creating a sustainability strategy is no longer a luxury when faced with the reality of heavy dependence on foreign oil, increasing energy prices, global warming and drastic climate change. A recent informal survey of senior local governmental policy officials concluded that sustainability was among the top three priorities for innovation in the cities they represented.

Jurisdictions of all sizes have determined that planning to reduce carbon emissions is central to their continued prosperity and often their survival. As communities get started creating an imperative for sustainability they should not only avail themselves of the best tools and policies but also of the opportunities that exist to link efforts within geographic areas across sectors.

This online event, sponsored by greenerApplications and the Governgment Innovators Network, provided information that enables city- and county-level executives and policy-makers to create highly effective sustainability strategies. The panel offered a full spectrum review of the latest tools and policies your jurisdiction can use to lower greenhouse gas emissions and implement low-risk projects that reduce energy costs.
