This online event provided an overview of the analyses conducted and outlined the policies prescribed in the Choosing Success report.

On January 15, 2008, a delegation from the Harvard Kennedy School Vietnam Program met with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in Hanoi, and presented him with the report, Choosing Success, written in response to a request from Prime Minister Dung that the Vietnam Program conduct a critical analysis of Vietnam's socioeconomic development strategy for the period through 2020.

The report is a sobering assessment for a country accustomed to outpourings of praise from multilateral donors for its economic performance; it targets improving infrastructure development and human-resource training as key areas for successful development in the coming years.
