The city of Hialeah is a a pioneer in the inclusion of special populations in municipal programs. Through its programs, participants have found a community of support and a channel to prosper and contribute to the workforce. The city provides alternative education for individuals with disabilities, including schools for traditionally underserved populations (such as children with severe autism) that use community spaces and relieve parents of some of the heavy cost of caring for these individuals.
