Bryan Vila, Ph.D. is professor of criminal justice and criminology at Washington State University, and directs the Simulated Hazardous Operational Tasks Laboratory in its Sleep and Performance Research Center. A 16-year police veteran and a pioneer in studying the impact of fatigue on police performance, Bryan holds a Ph.D. in evolutionary ecology from the Uni­versity of California, Davis. He is the author of Tired Cops: The Importance of Managing Police Fatigue (2000).
