The network was created in 2002 to respond to the needs of mistreated and/or sexually abused boys and girls, who lacked prompt and adequate attention from the regular channels in the communities of Buin and Paine. Public service professionals contacted other professionals and started the network, with the support of the Paicabi Foundation of Buin (specialized in actions in favor of boys and girls).
Progressively, proposals on how to raise community awareness emerged, hence emphasizing the importance of citizens' cooperation and action. Two assistance centers for young victims of violence were created. In addition, there have been attempts to promote cultural changes to highlight children's rights as well as to support the development of a more effective control of violence and social abuse.
